CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait — The 35th CAB is supporting the Mizzou Tigers all the way from Camp Buehring, Kuwait as they marked off one month since arriving in the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The Tigers had a great season opener as they crushed Southeastern Louisiana during the game on Saturday. Many of the soldiers here are longtime fans, alumni or residents of Columbia, Mo., proudly cheer on the Tigers.

“I think that it’s great the Tigers are in SEC and I think that we will be challenged, but do well,” said Sgt. Erica Lemuth. She gets her tiger pride from her father. “He was a huge Mizzou fan and naturally I followed in his footsteps. When my family moved to Jefferson City we would go to games,” she said, “I’ve been a fan my whole life, 24-years and counting!”

While the University of Missouri football team hit the gridiron the tiger flag flew over a different kind of field. The brigade headquarters are based in Sedalia, Mo, but currently is the headquarters for Task Force Santa Fe, overseeing all aviation missions and playing a vital role in partnerships in the region to promote stability and security in that part of the world.

Taking the opportunity to raise the Mizzou SEC flag was a great way to boost morale and give soldiers a little piece of home. The unit will be deployed until late spring 2013; however, the soldiers look to their favorite team to cheer during football season.

“I think it is a great way to represent our state. Raising our flag is a way to show our true Black and Gold spirit,” said Lehmuth.

The 35th CAB is here to build and maintain partnerships in Kuwait and others in this region; however with the start of football season the countdown to home begins.
