    Soldiers tackle obstacle, confidence courses during 'Operation Gauntlet'

    What: The 99th Regional Support Command is conducting a weeklong extended training exercise known as “Operation Gauntlet.”

    Who: Soldiers of the 99th RSC Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 78th Army Band, 380th Army Band, 94th Army Band and 319th Army Band.

    When: Friday, August 10 at 1 p.m. All media will need to arrive at approximately 12:30 p.m. for media brief and escort.

    Where: Wrightstown Checkpoint at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

    Background: The 99th RSC will conduct a Confidence and Obstacle Course to build soldiers’ leadership and teamwork skills, motivation, communication and self-confidence. The goal of Operation Gauntlet is for soldiers of the 99th RSC to safely perform Army Warrior Tasks in a field environment that enables them to sustain their basics soldier skills, as well as providing opportunities for band Soldiers to focus on their musical skills and advancement.

    The 99th RSC provides base-operations support to all Army Reserve soldiers, civilians, families, units, facilities and equipment for the entire Northeast Region of the Army Reserve, including the states of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut and New Hampshire and the District of Columbia. Specific services performed include management of human resources, logistics, finance, facilities, equipment maintenance, information technology and those well-being functions typically provided by Army installations. The RSC further exercises command and control of five Army Reserve bands stationed throughout its 13-state region.
