FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died from a terminal illness at his residence in Temple, Texas, July 2.
Sgt. 1st Class Clint Lee Fisher, 42, whose home of record is listed as Idabel, Okla., entered active duty service in July 1990 as a track vehicle repairer and served more recently as a maintenance supervisor. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Warrior Transition Brigade, Fort Hood, since March 2012.
Fisher deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2006 to December 2006 and March 2008 to March 2009. He also deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from July 2010 to July 2011.
Fisher's awards and decorations include seven Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, Navy Achievement Medal, four Army Good Conduct Medals, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral two, Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, three Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Tracked and Driver Wheeled Vehicles.
