HERAT, Afghanistan - Today in Camp Arena Base the Development and Reconstruction Working Group has met to discuss the future of the West part of Afghanistan. The meeting has been organized by the Italian lead Regional Command West.
Three provincial governors of RC-W area were present, together with representatives of the GIRoA from Kabul, the commanders of Afghan National Security Forces Units, such as 207 Afghan National Army Corps, and Police Representatives of all RCW, and Heads of Provincial Reconstruction Teams of the western region.
Chairman of the Conference was Mr. Saba, governor of Herat together with General Luigi Chiapperini, RC-W commander.
The meeting was focused on projects concerning governance, infrastructure, water, roads, medical assets and energy. Updates on the ongoing and planned projects were presented by the Government’s representatives, RCW PRTs, Italian Cooperation Agency and other participants.
Another important theme discussed is about transition tranche III has recently begun and is proceeding according to the established timeline.
The Regional Command West is not only involved in security but also in the development and reconstruction sectors and in governance with the aim to increase the reliability of local authorities and ensure a brighter future to the afghan population.
