PAKTIYA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Insurgents shot a civilian during an attack in the Mari Kheyl Village, Dand Patan district, Paktiya province, June 17.

Afghan Border Police escorted the injured man to nearby coalition advisors, who provided immediate first aid for multiple gunshot wounds.

There were no other casualties during the insurgent attack and the wounded man was medically evacuated to a nearby hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

“Insurgents keep targeting innocent Afghan civilians,” said Lt. Col. William Linn, the Special Operations Task Force East commander. “We will continue to assist those who are the victims of these attacks and help them fight against the criminals who target the innocent.”
