Afghan patrol confiscates illegal narcotics, ordnance in Chora District

URUZGAN PROVINCE, AFGHANISTAN – An Afghan National Security Forces-led patrol confiscated a cache of illegal narcotics and weapons at a compound in the village of Kunge, Chora district, June 4.

The patrol, which included members of the Afghan National Police, Chora’s Afghan Local Police, and coalition representatives, found the cache as a result of information provided by local residents.

“The cache consisted of 500 pounds of marijuana, 100 rounds of small-arms ammunition, 40 pounds of explosives and additional bomb making material,” said a coalition member. “All of the illegal contraband was destroyed on site.”

The coalition representative went on to describe the patrol and cache discovery as a successful day for Afghanistan’s law enforcement professionals. He praised community for the cooperation of the local residents, who made the operation possible.

Prior to the cache discovery, the patrol held a shura with local elders who expressed gratitude for the efforts of ANSF and coalition forces in the region. The elders also requested additional checkpoints be emplaced and nominated new candidates for Chora’s ALP.
