    RACE RECAP/ADVANCE

FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army NHRA Racing Top Fuel drivers Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Antron Brown were at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., on Sunday for the Toyota NHRA SuperNationals, while U.S. Army NASCAR Racing driver Ryan Newman challenged Dover (Del.) International Speedway in the FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event.

Schumacher was taken out in the quarterfinals by Steve Torrence, while Brown was eliminated in the opening round by Doug Kalitta. It was the third time in as many races Kalitta had sent Brown packing.

Despite their early-round losses, Schumacher and Brown retained second and third, respectively, in the Top Fuel standings behind their Don Schumacher Racing teammate Spencer Massey.

As of press time, Newman was circling the "Monster Mile" in pursuit of his second victory of the season. He entered the race holding 13th-place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver standings.

Newman will return to action next Sunday in the Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.
