MARINE CORPS AIR STATION FUTENMA, Japan - Semper Fit Futenma, part of Marine Corps Community Services, hosted a soccer tournament here March 25 and April 1.
MCCS hosts multiple sport tournaments throughout the year on Okinawa to give service members and families the opportunity to participate in physical activities and enjoy a bit of healthy competition.
The tournament was comprised of six teams. The teams were required to have a minimum of seven players and a maximum of 18, said Niki Schehl, a sports coordinator for Semper Fit Futenma.
“We take soccer seriously and most of us have been on this team for two years,” said Bryant Hiskins, a player for Super Swag United.
Super Swag United was undefeated throughout the entire tournament and Chivas M.C. won second place.
“I commend Chivas. Every time they come out, they give us a challenge and we definitely appreciate that,” said Austin C. Gagner, the goalie for Super Swag United.
Most members on the teams have a passion for soccer and greatly appreciate MCCS and Semper Fit Futenma hosting soccer tournaments, said Hiskins.
MCCS will continue to host soccer tournaments throughout the year. For more information, visit www.mccsokinawa.com.
