COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Department of Defense announced, April 5, the loss of three Ohio National Guard soldiers who died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition, five other Ohio National Guard soldiers were critically wounded in the same incident in Maimanah, the capital of the Faryab province, in northern Afghanistan.
All of the soldiers were members of the Ohio Army National Guard’s 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
“We ask a great deal from our soldiers and these young men who have given their lives in the name of freedom will never be forgotten,” said Maj. Gen. Deborah A. Ashenhurst, Ohio adjutant general.
