    63rd Readiness Division

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Representatives from every directorate in this command met at the U.S. Army Reserve Center to lay out the footwork for the 2013 Army Reserve Communities of Excellence Award Competition.

The weeklong training, led by a panel of five men, to include Mickey Maylard, President of Expected End Performance Group, gave individuals the opportunity to review the base operations services this organization focuses on while challenging them to come up with ways to improve on its products.

“The training was instrumental in introducing people to the mission and vision this command group wants to share with its constituents,” said Chief Warrant Officer Eloise Lopez, Military Personnel Division, 63rd Regional Support Command.

Lopez paused while remembering about her time as an ACOE examiner.

“Information solicited from the bottom up can only help this command group understand and meet its customer’s needs,” Lopez added.

The main purpose of the 63rd Regional Support Command is to support, build and maintain a community-based force of skill-rich Warrior-citizens, base operations and Title 10 Readiness. In doing this, the 63rd RSC hopes it improves on reserve installation facilities; communication with its customers; developing its leaders, and the manpower to include the resources needed for its subordinate units to optimize mission readiness.

“Breaking down the individuals comfort level, in dealing with communication with the customers, can be a challenge,” said Sgt. Alphosia Black, Human Resource Division, 63rd RSC.

“Individuals have been used to doing it their way or the way it’s always been down, but this may not be the best way to get us where this command wants us to be,” Black added.

In order to provide a competitive submission for the ACOE Award, representatives from the multiple directorates have to understand how Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Business Excellence to conduct an organizational self-assessment relates to our daily functionality.

“The success or failure of this program depends on how much the senior leaders buy into it,” said Mickey Mayland, president of EEPG.

“Getting more people exposed to the process, as this command did by the selection of people to attend the training, will only help them exceed in their short and long-term goals,” Mayland added.

In order to strive for excellence, the 63rd RSC will continue to push down its core competencies that included improving on the quality of life and services to its customers. In doing this, it is believed that the goals and expectations laid out by the customers and stakeholders will be met thrusting the 63rd into the forefront as the premier United States Army Reserve Command.
