URUZGAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army Commandos conducted two training classes on short-range marksmanship techniques for members of the Afghan Local Police in Gizab district, Uruzgan province, Afghanistan, Dec. 14-15.
Earlier in the month, the commandos learned from coalition special operations forces how to assume the instructor role and provide the marksmanship training.
This training relationship between the commandos and coalition SOF further develops the commandos’ capacity as instructors and ensures the ALP’s skills remain proficient so they can continue to provide safety and security to the people of Gizab.
“Long term security in the Gizab district is only feasible with a robust ALP force,” said a coalition SOF team member. “The successful completion of this ALP marksmanship training led by the ANA is another step toward Gizab district’s ability to sustain a functioning ALP force and has a positive impact on the stability and security of this district.”
