FALLS CHURCH, Va. - The challenge dubbed the “blood donor face off” is promoting the blood supply needs of the program for the military domestic and international use.
During the annual Army-Navy football game taking place on Saturday, Dec. 10, at FedEx Field in Largo, Md., there will an award for which team has delivered the most blood. Not because of injuries on the field, but for the winner of the Armed Services Blood Program’s Blood Donor Challenge.
The challenge dubbed the “blood donor face off” is promoting the blood supply needs of the program for the military domestic and international use. For the past two weeks, the ASBP has held blood drives around the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for the military community to make blood donations.
On game day, pay attention during the 3rd quarter. That is when Director of the ASBP Army Col. Frank Rentas makes a presentation to the winner of the ASBP Blood Challenge. The winning service -Army or Navy- gets bragging rights and a trophy for collecting the most units of blood during the time period.
