FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army NHRA Top Fuel drivers Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Antron Brown competed in the NHRA season finale at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. this weekend, while U.S. Army NASCAR Racing driver Ryan Newman was visiting Phoenix International Raceway.

Schumacher, in his U.S. Army Vietnam Veterans dragster, dropped a final round race to eventual world champion Del Worsham and thus finished fifth in the Top Fuel standings.

A contender for the world title entering the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, Brown dropped a close race to Larry Dixon in the second round and as a result was eliminated from the Countdown to the Championship. He secured third-place in the final points.

On the U.S. Army NASCAR Racing side, driver Ryan Newman banked a fifth-place finish in Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500k Sprint Cup Series race in Phoenix, Nov. 13.

Like Schumacher, Newman was also sporting a Vietnam Veterans special paint scheme on his No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet.

Holding ninth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup driver standings, Newman will travel to Homestead, Fla. next Sunday, Nov. 20, for the final race of 2011.
