PHOENIX - Given his All-American pedigree, it is no surprise that St. Peter’s Preparatory High School quarterback and future West Virginia University Mountaineer, Brandon Napoleon, has been selected to play in the inaugural Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, on Jan. 3, 2012.

The Semper Fidelis Bowl, scheduled to be played at Chase Field as part of Fiesta Bowl Week in Phoenix, is part of a partnership between Marine Corps Recruiting Command and Junior Rank. The bowl game, which will be nationally televised by CBS, will be an East-West format game featuring the top 100 high school football players in the country.

Napoleon, 17, is the son of two All-American parents. His father was an All-American football player and his mother was an All-American basketball player.

“It has always been one of my personal goals to become a high school All-American,” said Napoleon. “My father would always tell me what a great honor it was for him to be an All-American so I have a good understanding of what an honor and a blessing it is to be selected to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.”

Playing football since he was seven years old, Napoleon’s passion for the game has opened the door for him to pursue another passion of his when he arrives at West Virginia University next fall.

“I will major in either business or communications,” said Napoleon. “I also have an interest in sports medicine. When I was younger, I always wanted to be a doctor.”

Unique to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, players not only must demonstrate excellence on the gridiron. They also must possess outstanding character, leadership and values. Napoleon possesses all three, thanks to positive role models he has had in his life.

“To me, this game is not only about football,” said Napoleon. “It’s about young men with character, good morals, values and discipline. Those are the same qualities that my parents have instilled in me. My parents instilled character, respect and discipline in me really early in my life. Both of my parents are hard working, successful people and they learned that from their parents.”

According to Napoleon, it is this upbringing that has made him the All-American he is today.

“Having strong character, values, morals and self-respect just adds to a well rounded person,” said Napoleon. “Pushing yourself to be the best you can be in everything you do, doing the right thing when no one is looking and being a good student in the classroom and a student of the game will take you to the next level. To me those are the things that make up an All-American.”
