CAMP LEJEUNE -- Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune’s ServMart and their federal partner, the General Service Administration, will be sponsoring the third annual Customer Appreciation Day to say “Thank You” to all of its military and civil service customers, at building 1606 aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Oct. 26.
This year’s appreciation day’s theme is ‘Green.’ All of the appreciation day’s vendors will be highlighting their products and product lines which promote environmentally – green products and sustainability.
John Blackburn, Supply Services Branch manager with the Supply Management Division, MCB Camp Lejeune, added that there a lot of vendors that will be acting in supporting roles with displays, free food and music.
“Over the last decade, we’ve developed a partnership with General Service Administration,” said Blackburn. “ServMart, formerly known as Direct Support Stock Control, will be having its third customer appreciation day and it will be sponsored by GSA and MCB Camp Lejeune’s Supply Management Division.”
At last year’s appreciation day, NASCAR driver Tony Stewart paid a visit to wounded Marines and sailors of Wounded Warrior Battalion – East. His visit was part of the customer appreciation day at the ServMart, during which Stewart took time to thank and talk to some of the troops. This year, the NASCAR number 11 FedEx car will be on display.
“One of the key points is the theme for this year’s appreciation day,” said Blackburn. “It’s one of the commander in chief’s directives – his executive order on trying to ‘green’ the government. So we wanted vendors to highlight what they have that’s green and point it out to the customers and give them the opportunity to shop more intelligently.”
Vendors supporting the event include Office Depot, MSC Industrial Tools, Targus, Xerox, Panasonic, GO-JO Industries, Streamlight, Inc., Kimberly Clark and Black & Decker.
