    CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait – Maj. Gen. Myles L. Deering, Oklahoma adjutant general and Norman, Okla. native, visited Oklahoma National guardsmen with the 1st Battalion, 160th Field Artillery and 1st Squadron, 180th Cavalry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team here and at Camp Virginia, Oct. 17.

    During his visit, Deering expressed his gratitude while handing out coins to Oklahoma National guardsmen who have exceeded the standard with their hard work and dedication.

    “You soldiers play a very important role,” said Deering. “Thank you for being the professionals you are. I wish I could go to each and every one of you and tell you how truly appreciative I am of your hard work.”

    Deering also met with senior leaders to convey his appreciation for their efforts in moving the mission forward, keeping morale high, and meeting the needs of their troops.

    “You’re all doing a great job,” explained Deering. “As leaders, we inspire. The positive attitude and outstanding work ethic of our Oklahoma Guardsmen here is a reflection of your successful leadership.”

    Of those recognized for their exceptional service, was Sgt. Christopher Bagale, B. Battery, 1st Bn., 160th FA and a Boonville, N.C. native. Bagale said meeting Deering was something he’ll never forget.

    “I truly feel honored to be recognized here,” Bagale said. “It’s awesome to be appreciated for the hard work and service we’re performing here. For someone like Maj. Gen. Deering to take time from his busy schedule and tell us thanks; it really means a lot.”

    Third Army’s commitment to the well-being of its troops remains a priority. Through morale-building visits such as Deering’s visit to Camps Buehring and Virginia, Third Army is helping to inspire, educate and inform service members, the strength of our nation.
