    Insurgent IEDs wound three civilians

KUNAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Insurgents emplaced and detonated four improvised explosive devices injuring three Afghan civilians in Bar Samkar village, Sept. 29.

Three IEDs were placed on a wall of an Afghan Local Police commander’s home and another device was placed underneath the village flour mill.

Villagers stated that insurgents emplaced the IEDs and retreated back to the mountains before detonating them.

A local woman suffered shrapnel wounds to her face and an 8-year-old girl received debris wounds to her face and eyes. A local man was also injured in the blasts, suffering broken ribs from the collapse of the building.

“This is another example of insurgents’ disregard for the safety and well-being of innocent civilians,” said a member of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan.

Coalition special operations forces evacuated the young girl and local man to Asadabad for medical treatment.
