KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan and coalition security force patrol detained two insurgents during an operation targeting an insurgent network in Kuz Kunar district, Nangarhar province, yesterday.
The insurgent network is known to facilitate lethal aid used in attacks against ANSF and coalition forces.
The insurgents were detained and taken in for processing and further questioning.

In Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered and seized a weapons cache consisting of seven 81mm illumination mortars, two 81mm mortar rounds, three 40mm grenades, several rounds of ammunition along with 30 improvised explosive device components. All the items were safely destroyed by security forces.

The IED was safely destroyed on site. The insurgents were detained and taken in for processing and further questioning.
