Task Force White Eagle Public Affairs
GHAZNI PROVINCE, Afghanistan – NATO Senior Civilian Representatives to Afghanistan Ambassador Simon Grass visited Task Force White Eagle and Ghazni province authorities as well as Afghan National Security Forces Sept. 22.
The main purpose of ambassador’s visit was to familiarize himself with the overall security and development situation in the province. He met with the Task Force White Eagle commander Polish army Brig. Gen. Sławomir Wojciechowski and representatives of the International Security Assistance Force in Ghazni province. The general acquainted the visitor with the security situation in the province and presented the most significant threat soldiers and civilians encounter every day.
Task Force White Eagle U.S. civilian representative James Bigus discussed the plan to transition responsibilities to the Afghans in individual districts.
"Security in the city of Ghazni is primarily provided by Afghan National Army and Police. Coalition forces are in the provincial capital as guests. Mostly we go there with our specialists from the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team who carries out development projects," added Wojciechowski.
Deputy commander of Task Force White Eagle, Col. Michael Haerr, presented in detail the tasks the Task Force performs to ensure the security, development and support of governance in the province. Most of the discussion was devoted to expansion and development.
Grass also met with the Ghazni province Gov. Mussa Khan and representatives of the Afghan Security Forces to discuss important topics for Ghazni such as the preparation for the "Ghazni 2013 - World Capital of the Islamic Culture," security in the province, reconciliation and the reintegration process.
