    Afghan commandos recover weapons cache near Bagram Air Field

    PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Commandos from 2nd Company, 1st Kandak, recovered an insurgent weapons cache near Bagram Air Field, July 21.

    The commandos were informed by local villagers of a weapons cache and launched a recovery operation to search and confiscate the weaponry. Among the munitions seized were one recoilless rifle, two heavy machine guns, 13 grenades, 50 antipersonnel landmines and more than 500 blasting caps.

    “The mission was conducted well; there was good security of the village and everything went well,” said Col. Akbar, 1st Kandak commander. “This success will increase the public perception of the Afghan National Security Forces and the government of Afghanistan.”

    No casualties or property damage from the operation was reported.
