JOPLIN, Mo. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $40 million contract June 24 to R&R Trucking, Inc., a large business concern, based out of Duenweg, Mo., for debris removal related to the city of Joplin.

USACE is managing the removal of debris in Joplin as part of the federal government’s unified national response following the tornado which struck the city May 22.

The debris removal mission, assigned by FEMA, includes the removal of construction and demolition waste and vegetation from the public right of way, and the removal of private property debris.
