FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died June 12 from injuries in a motorcycle accident in Killeen, Texas.
Sgt. Bryan Dewayne Beard, 34, whose home of record is listed as Constantinople, Kan., entered active-duty service in May 1997 as a petroleum supply specialist. He was assigned to 4th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since February 2006.
Beard deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2003 to July 2003, October 2006 to January 2008, and January 2009 to December 2009.
Beard's awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, Presidential Unit Citation Award, four Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with three combat service stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Sevice Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Serice Ribbon and six Overseas Service Ribbons.
