WALLISVILLE, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office is now accepting applications through June 30 for seasonal blind permits in its Waterfowl Management Program for the upcoming 2011-12 waterfowl hunting season.

“We are including a no penalty, amnesty period,” said Ruth Millsaps, a park ranger with the USACE Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office. “Hunters who may have forgotten to send in their harvest report or had some other reason for being disqualified in the past are eligible for this year’s drawing.”

Applicants must submit their full name as it appears on their driver’s license, including driver’s license number, complete mailing address, a daytime phone number and a home and evening phone number clearly printed on a white 3” X 5” index card. Cards are to be mailed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wallisville Project Office, Attention: Duck Blind, P.O. Box 293 Wallisville, TX 77597, or hand delivered to the office at 20020 I-10 East Feeder Road in Wallisville.

“All applicants must be at least 18 years old and only one application per person will be accepted,” said Millsaps. “A random drawing will be held July 6 for the available 150 permits after which winners will be notified by mail.”

According to Millsaps, a blind location selection meeting will be held Aug. 13 at the project office. Applicants who are chosen for a blind and cannot make the meeting are required to call one of the Corps’ park rangers for an appointment to make a location selection during the two weeks following the selection meeting.

If you have any questions or would like to conduct scouting ahead of time, visit the Wallisville Lake Project Office or call (409) 389-2285. For more information on the Wallisville Lake Project, visit www.swg.usace.army.mil and click on the “Recreation” tab.
