KABUL, Afghanistan – A dismounted coalition force patrol killed several insurgents in Musa Qal’ah District, Helmand province, May 27.
The patrol was engaged by several insurgents with indirect fire. After positively identifying the insurgents’ firing position, the patrol engaged them, killing several.

South
Afghan and coalition forces discovered drug caches in Zharay District, Kandahar province May 27.
The caches discovered during security operations consisted of 3,307 pounds (1500 kilograms) of hashish. 23 men were also detained by security forces for further questioning.
East
In Wazah Khwah district, Paktika province, a combined Afghan and coalition force patrol discovered a weapons cache May 27.
The cache consisted of 992 pounds (450 kgs) of ammonium nitrate and several improvised explosive device making materials.
In Maidan Shahr district, Wardak province, coalition force patrol discovered a weapons cache, May 27.
The cache consisted of six 82 mm mortar rounds.
All weapons and drugs have been or will be destroyed by security forces.
