QAISAR, Afghanistan – Afghans in the village of Yakaba were met by International Security Assistance Force troops, April 27.

Soldiers from the U.S. Army A Battery, 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team met with village elders and shared tea while others distributed notebooks to the children.

“We do our best to help with their needs,” said U.S. Army 1Lt. Roy Ragusa, 3rd Platoon Leader, A Battery, 1-84 Field Artillery. “We want to improve their daily living situation and bring security to this area. We continue to build a lasting trust with them.”

When asked about the day’s events, Wahab, a village leader, expressed how he was proud.

“I am happy today,” said Wahab. “The ISAF soldiers come here and I appreciate this. I am proud to work with these soldiers.”

Wahab explained the security situation has increased since working with ISAF.

“The Taliban are afraid to come here and there have been no problems for us,” said Wahab. “We are ready to help the ISAF soldiers; night or day, no problem. And we are thankful for them.”
