    SAN DIEGO - Naval Medical Center San Diego commemorated the first day of the new year by welcoming the first baby born in 2011.

    Proud parents Aviation Machinist Mate Airman Kenneth and his wife Elizabeth Craig welcomed Alexa Marie Craig, born at 1:28 a.m., weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 inches in length. Kenneth is a southern California native, and is stationed at Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light 43 at Naval Air Station North Island. Mother Elizabeth is from Springfield, Ore.

    Baby and mother are doing very well. Baby Alexa is the couple’s first child.

    It is undetermined at this time if baby Alexa is the first baby born of the new year in San Diego County. If she is, media availability information will be announced at that time.
