CAMP DEHDADI, Afghanistan- Leaders with 24th Brigade Support Battalion, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, unfurled their unit’s colors symbolizing the battalion’s assumption of responsibility from 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division during a transfer of authority ceremony here March 12.
The casing of the 10th BSB colors signified the completion of a year-long combat tour for the soldiers with the Sherpa Battalion, simultaneously the uncasing of the 24th BSB Colors marked the beginning of operations for Deeds Battalion.
“Soldiers of the Deeds Battalion, today we officially add a new chapter to the long history and lineage of the 24th Brigade Support Battalion. Our success here will be measured not by our words, but our actions in supporting our neighbors in our area of operation,” said Lt. Col. Timothy D. Walsh, 24th BSB commander.
Soldiers with 24th BSB will accomplish missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The battalion will conduct joint security operations with the Afghan National Army and Border Police forces during its tenure in the area.
