Afghan Commandos, US Special Forces kill five insurgents, wound two in Helmand

HELMAND, Afghanistan – The Afghan 8th Commando Kandak, combat advised by U.S. Special Forces, killed five insurgents and wounded two during operations in the Kajaki District, Helmand province, Feb. 13.
While conducting clearing operations near Lad-a Juy village, the partnered force received direct fire from an insurgent stronghold. Returning fire, the Afghan-led force took cover while assessing the situation. After positively identifying the location of the insurgent force, a coalition air weapons team was requested to engage, successfully suppressing the insurgent position.
No civilians were injured or collateral damage caused during the engagement.
The Commando force discovered two assault rifles, one rocket propelled grenade, and one damaged hand-held radio during the operation.
