KABUL, Afghanistan – A conference organized by the governor’s office and Department of Hajj and Religious Affairs in Ghor, was held in Chaghcharan Capital District Feb. 9.

More than six dozens spiritual leaders from different districts of the province participated in the event.

The main subjects emphasized during conference were the Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Program and Islamic attitude towards security and community. Participants of mullahs’ conference expressed their hope, that there will be a possibility to find the exact ways of solution of all issues discussed in a conference.

Mullahs during their speeches discussed the importance of Islamic traditions, friendship, peace and hospitality. They emphasized the necessity to inform citizens about the beginning of Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Program in the province. Spiritual leaders mentioned about the importance to involve local population in the processes of rebuilding their own country, economic growth and maintaining the security in the country. Community is also responsible for the future of the country so they have to put effort and act in a proper way according to the Islam philosophy.

The governor of Ghor province, Dr. Aqahi Abdullah Heiwad, stressed that the main issue is to convince insurgents to join Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Program.

“There are groups of insurgents who are using opportunity to exploit their influence using tribal conflicts as a mean. These conflicts are decreasing security and development; in addition they affect the improvement of social prosperity. Therefore, local mullahs and tribal elders are invited here to get newest information about APRP in Ghor province from the first lips and spread this message for the local population,” Heiwad said.

The participants of the conference stressed, that religious leaders and tribal elders are responsible for supporting governance, development and security in the province.
