MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan - Two community development projects in DehDadi District were completed Dec. 31 and have strengthened both the Chelgazi and Kaka Kot villages.
District leadership actively listened to the local communities concerns and helped establish development projects.
A pure water source was provided for the Kaka Kot Secondary School, allowing over 1,800 students access to clean drinking water during the summer months and breaks.
Chelgazi Secondary School required a cleaner water tank, along with a workable water pump and faucet.
“The fixed well pump will provide more faucets for not only the children, but will also be a great service for the village,” said the headmaster of the Chelgazi Secondary School.
For the second project, a new metal gate and door were installed to provide greater security, enabling teachers the opportunity to monitor the students arriving and leaving the school grounds.
“There have been no threats in this area for some time,” said the caretaker.
The caretaker expressed his gratitude and was very thankful for the new gate since it offers improved security for the children once they return from winter break.
Completion of the Chelgazi School well and the Kaka Kot School offers the local populations access to resources. The projects aim to provide needed services and the opportunity to provide a better quality of life for the local community.
