Photo By Jason Johnston | Finnish President Tarja Halonen meets troops on Camp Marmal during a two-day visit to the region. Halonen, hosted by Commander, ISAF Regional Command North German Army Maj. Gen. Hans-Werner Fritz, also was presented a briefing on operations in northern Afghanistan and spoke with Commander, ISAF U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus. MAZAR-E SHARIF, Afghanistan – President of Finland Tarja Halonen visited Finnish soldiers and was presented briefings on coalition operations in northern Afghanistan Jan. 18.
Halonen, hosted by Commander, International Security Assistance Force Regional Command North German Army Maj. Gen. Hans-Werner Fritz, spoke with ISAF Commander U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus over video conference and visited troops on Provincial Reconstruction Team Mazar-e Sharif and the Finnish National Support Element on Camp Marmal over her two-day trip.
