Afghan tips lead to discovery of cache in Shahid-e Hassas

ORUZGAN, Afghanistan – U.S. Special Forces received tips from Afghan civilians that led to the location of a weapons cache in Shahid-e Hassas district, Oruzgan province, Feb. 1.

USSF were conducting a patrol in the district when they were confronted by the villagers. After locating the cache based off the tips received, members of Special Operations Task Force – Southeast safely destroyed the munitions and weapon systems.

The cache consisted of two anti-tank mines, four rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two 82mm mortar rounds, and a jug of homemade explosives.

β€œThe more weapons caches discovered prior to fighting season the less effective the fighters will be once they return to retrieve and eventually employ them,” said a U.S. Special Forces team member.
