CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan – Bahraini Special Security Forces Company 3 assumed authority of all SSFC 2 responsibilities in a transfer of authority ceremony here, Dec. 15.

Capt. Alsobah Munther, SSFC 2 commanding officer, transferred his authority to Capt. Khalid, the SSFC 3 commanding officer.

Since May of this year, SSFC 2 provided base security here, searching more than 26,000 vehicles, seizing more than 600 items of contraband, recovering more than 7,500 grams of narcotics and about 500 illegal electronic devices.

Col. Lori E. Reynolds, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group (FWD) commanding officer, spoke on the commendable job SSFC 2 has done while in Afghanistan.

“In the theater of Afghanistan, [Camp Leatherneck] has not been attacked,” Reynolds said referring to safety at Camp Leatherneck in recent years.

“You will forever have a friend in the United States Marine Corps. It has been an honor to serve with you.”

Reynolds said the men of SSFC 3 would have their work cut out because of the reputation that the men who came before them have established; however, she did express her confidence in their abilities.

“I have every faith in the Bahraini SSFC organization and the training that you have received and we look forward to getting to know you and forming the same deep friendships with you as we have with the men of SSFC 2,” she said.
