CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq - Two soldiers with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 110th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), were promoted recently at Contingency Operating Base Adder, Iraq.
The soldiers received their promotions from Lt. Col. David Scheideler, commander of the 110th CSSB, and a Beatrice, Neb., native.
“I am excited for the opportunity to join the ranks of the Non-Commissioned Officer Corps, and to lead the way for the junior enlisted [soldiers] who are looking up to me,” said Sgt. Robin Hughes, paralegal NCO with the 110th CSSB, and a Tifton, Ga., native, after receiving her promotion to sergeant.
Hughes has been with the 110th CSSB for several years; she said she has been anticipating this promotion for some time. This is her first deployment overseas.
She said she considered it a privilege to be promoted while deployed, and she is looking forward to redeploying back home in a few months. She also received an Army Commendation Medal for her outstanding work in Iraq.
The other soldier promoted was Capt. Robert Abrams, support operations officer with the 110th CSSB, and a Stone Mountain, Ga., native. He was promoted from the rank of first lieutenant to the rank of captain.
“It is an honor to receive my promotion while deployed here in Iraq,” said Abrams. “I look forward to continuing to serve and work with the great people in my section and this unit.”
