ZABUL, Afghanistan – Soldiers from the Afghan National Army’s 2nd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 205th Corps and U.S. Navy SEAL medical personnel worked together to provide treatment to 57 Afghans during a Village Medical Outreach Program Nov. 28 in the Arghandab District, Zabul province.

This was the second visit by security forces and medical personnel to the area in the last month.

The combined force continues to develop Afghan medical capabilities through events like this; coordinating with the Ministry of Public Health and utilizing GIRoA-led services such as VMOPs.

Local villagers received treatment for a variety of issues, ranging from the common cold and flu symptoms to general aches and pains.

In addition to the medical treatment, the combined forces’ soldiers and SEALs handed out clothes and blankets to help the villagers through the winter months.

“The 57 attendees were a noticeable increase compared to the last VMOP that was conducted earlier in the month,” said a Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan official.
