ZABUL, Afghanistan – Soldiers from the Afghan National Army’s 1st Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 205th Corps and members of the Afghan National Police received vehicle mobility training from U.S. Navy SEALs, Nov. 22-23, in the Nawbahar district, Zabul province.
The SEALs and the ANA commander worked together to increase the driving abilities of both the ANA and ANP and to identify any issues with their vehicles so they could be addressed.
The driving portion of the training consisted of obstacle avoidance, approaching an obstacle and maneuvering a vehicle through an obstacle. There were also daily classes on maintenance that provided ANA forces with the ability to keep their vehicles combat effective for patrols.
“The ANA and ANP members displayed efficiency in basic driving techniques,” said one of the SEAL instructors. “We have also developed a 14-day vehicle training pipeline to improve ANA driving skills. This training will help the ANA and ANP effectively plan and coordinate future partnered operations.”
