    HELMAND, Afghanistan – A 12-year-old Afghan boy was medically evacuated by Coalition forces Nov. 22, in Sangin district, Helmand province, due to wounds sustained when he stepped on an improvised explosive device.

    The boy was brought to the Coalition forces compound by his father for immediate medical care.

    After being treated and stabilized by U.S. Special Operations Forces medical personnel at the base, the child, escorted by his father, was medically evacuated to Lashkar Gah hospital to receive further medical treatment for the injuries.
