KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army and International Security Assistance Forces discovered weapon caches in two southern Afghanistan locations in separate combined patrols today.
During a combined dismounted patrol in Helmand province, forces found a weapons cache in Marjeh District. The cache consisted of 12 rocket-propelled grenades, one AK-47, 12 AK-47 magazines, 700 7.62 mm rounds, two pressure plates, three Russian grenades, one Russian gun, one bag of ball bearings, one flare, one M-4 with magazine, two chest racks and one radio.
In Uruzgan province, Afghan Army and coalition forces found one weapons cache in Tarin Kot District during a dismounted patrol. The cache consisted of 10 recoilless rifle rounds, 21 rocket-propelled grenades and one 82 mm mortar.
All caches were taken into possession and will be destroyed.
