    KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Five Taliban insurgents, known to Afghan and Coalition forces as IED facilitators, financiers and trainers of insurgents, surrendered to a partnered force during an operation Nov. 14 in Lam Village, Khakrez District, Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

    Afghan Commandos from 3rd Commando Kandak, combat advised by soldiers from Special Operations Task Force – South, detained the personnel during the operation and turned them over to Afghan National Police for further processing.

    Discovered and destroyed on site was nearly 700 pounds of explosives making material found in one of the compounds.

    No civilians were injured and no property damage was reported during the operation.
