    Insurgents kill, wound Afghan civilians

    KABUL, Afghanistan – Several Afghan civilians were killed, including a child, and several were wounded during insurgent attacks in southern, eastern and northern Afghanistan today.

    A suicide bomber killed a local tribal leader and wounded five Afghan civilian in Chorah District, Uruzgan province.

    In Bermal District, Paktika province, an Afghan child was killed by an improvised explosive device.

    Two Afghan civilians were killed and eight were wounded including the mayor of Kunduz when an IED exploded in Khanabad District, Kunduz province.

    “Insurgents continue their indiscriminate killing and wounding of innocent civilians despite their leaderships guidance,” said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. “Our thoughts and concerns are with the families during this difficult time.”
