KABUL, Afghanistan – The Afghan National Civil Order Police force gained 153 policemen and two police women during a graduation ceremony at the German Police Training Center North in Mazar-e Sharif, Balkh province, Nov. 11.
The new civil order police members completed a six-week course and marked the last graduating class for German Police Training Center head, Col. Juergen Bielor.
“You are the ones who have to guarantee that law and order and values of your homeland are respected in the city of Mazar-e Sharif and in your districts. You know that at times you will have to risk your lives to protect the citizens, their families, their homes and their property,” said Bielor.
The civil order police are a special police unit under the control of the Afghan National Police. The mission of the more than 5,000 members of the force is to provide civil order presence patrols, prevent violent public incidents and coordinate crisis and anti-terror response in urban environments.
“Now you are trusted police. Honesty while on duty is important; I am grateful for your support,” said Col. Mirwais chief of training in Pamir Zone 303.
The graduates trained in basic, advanced and practical police methods, culminating with riot control drills.
