BAGRAM DISTRICT, Afghanistan -- Students from Jan Qadam village school did not walk away empty handed, Nov. 7, after receiving pens, pencils, notebooks and other essential school supplies from coalition forces during a visit to the school in the Bagram district, Parwan province.
Members of Operation Care, supported by Special Operations Task Force-East medical personnel and U.S. Air Force engineers of the 577th Expeditionary Prime Base Emergency Force squadron, coordinated a successful distribution of school supplies as well the construction of a new guard shed to be used by security personnel at the school.
Operation Care is a group of military personnel that perform humanitarian work for the local communities in forward-deployed areas of responsibility. Their projects can range, but are not limited to, construction of local infrastructure, clothing donations and distribution of school supplies.
The construction of the guard shed was led by engineers of the USAF 577th PRIME BEEF Squadron. Upon completion of the shed, PRIME BEEF personnel and school staff passed out candy to students at the end of the school day.
With the construction of the new guard shed, school security personnel now have an enclosed structure for protection from the extreme heat and cold brought on by weather in the province.
“The time spent delivering the much needed supplies not only brought life-long smiles, but also further exemplified the uniqueness of the “Quiet Professional,” said Capt. Joe Kyser, Special Operations Task Force-East medical operations officer.
