KABUL, Afghanistan – A concert honoring Afghan National Army soldiers was held at the Kabul Military Training Center Thursday.
The concert was intended as a morale booster for Afghan troops, and allowed the Afghan TV-viewing public to witness Afghan artists expressing their gratitude for the sacrifices endured by the ANA. Performers included popular Afghan performing artists Seeta Qasemi, and Wajeha Rastagar, pop singer Ahmad Fanoos, and Shafiq Mureed.
More than 5,000 soldiers and support staff were in attendance. In addition, Maj. Gen. Karim, Maj Gen. Azeemi, several provincial-level politicians and other Ministry of Defense officers were in attendance.
KMTC is Afghanistan’s largest military training center for the ANA. In one month approximately 10,000 to 12,000 soldiers pass through training. Training at KMTC covers basic infantry skills to artillery exercises and even literacy training. The ANA’s current strength is more than 138,000 and building to the approved end strength of 172,000 soldiers.
