ZABUL, Afghanistan - The Arghandab district chief and the U.S. Army Agricultural Development Team joined together to provide a three-day agricultural seminar to local farmers from the Arghandab District, Zabul province, Oct. 18 to 20.
The seminar focused on making local farmers aware of common problems associated with farming and raising livestock.
The Afghan instructor discussed diseases associated with crops, vegetables and livestock. He also used visual examples of specific diseases and offered treatment solutions, including demonstrating the administration of various vaccines.
By the end of the seminar, local farmers had been exposed to multiple ways to improve their crops and livestock, as their agricultural information was greatly expanded.
The seminar is also a way for Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan officials to interact with the populace during a government-sponsored event, allowing the local people to work with representatives of their government.
