BAGHDAD –The Administrative Affairs School in Taji certified 120 new Iraqi Army Mobile Kitchen Trailer/Mobile Bakery Trailer students during a graduation ceremony Oct. 13.

The course was made up of students from the Iraqi Army’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th divisions, who were required to complete a rigorous Program of Instruction designed to provide hands-on experience in simulated field conditions.

All classes are conducted at outdoor training sites. Once oriented to the equipment, students conducted practical exercises cooking full course meals, including fish or chicken, rice, beans, and bread. During these exercises they are given the opportunity to conduct maintenance checks, operate all equipment and conduct clean up.

United States Forces-Iraq has been working hand-in-hand with the Iraqi Army to develop professional training programs for Iraqi soldiers. These programs are now in the process of transitioning full responsibility to Iraqi Army trainers in an effort to become a self-sustaining force.

The course is an important building block towards the establishment of a professionalized noncommissioned officer corps in the Iraqi Army. With the knowledge and skills learned here, these soldiers will be better equipped to be enlisted leaders within their units.

“It was a great experience to be in this course. I learned a lot, and it was very beneficial to me,” said Rahim Kareem Mohammed, a student from the 3rd Iraqi Army Division.
