Shaping Our Community: How Your ICE Comments Drive Continuous Improvement Across USAG Wiesbaden

By Iris Hoehenberger, Wiesbaden ICE Program Manager

WIESBADEN, Germany — From processing official orders and moving into on-post housing to visiting the dining facilities or enrolling children in youth sports, every member of the USAG Wiesbaden community interacts with garrison services daily. Behind every counter, desk, and service call is a dedicated team committed to operational readiness and quality of life. However, maintaining high standards requires ongoing communication between the community and leadership—and the Department of Defense’s Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE) system serves as the installation’s primary engine for that dialogue.

    Why Submitting Feedback Matters

    1. Justifying Resources and Services Customer survey data provides concrete, measurable evidence when garrison directors request expanded operating hours, new equipment, facility renovations, or additional staffing. When community members highlight bottlenecks or high-demand time slots, garrison leadership uses that data to reallocate resources where they matter most.
    2. Recognizing Exceptional Personnel While ICE is an essential tool for identifying service deficiencies, it is equally vital as a platform for commendation. Positive comments submitted through ICE are forwarded to supervisors and often form the basis for Customer Service of the Quarter awards, civilian on-the-spot cash awards, and Command Coins of Excellence.
    3. Accountability and Rapid Resolution Service providers are held to strict garrison response standards. When a customer submits an ICE evaluation and requests a follow-up, the designated service manager is required to review the submission and contact the customer within three business days with an update or proposed resolution.

How to Submit an Effective ICE Comment

To ensure your feedback leads to swift action, the ICE Program Office recommends keeping three best practices in mind:

    • Be Specific and Objective: Clearly describe what occurred, including the date, approximate time, facility location, and the specific program or service utilized.
    • Identify Outstanding Personnel by Name: If a staff member provided exemplary assistance, include their name or desk location so their leadership can officially commend them.
    • Select Your Response Preference: You may submit comments completely anonymously; however, if you would like a direct explanation, assistance, or follow-up from the responsible manager, be sure to provide a valid email address or phone number.
    • Focus on Constructive Solutions: Suggesting practical ways a process could run smoother helps service owners implement tangible fixes rather than guessing at community expectations.

Accessing the USAG Wiesbaden ICE Portal

Submitting an evaluation takes less than two minutes from any smartphone, tablet, or government workstation: Visit the DoD ICE portal directly at https://ice.disa.mil/index.cfm?fa=site&site_id=87 Select your category (e.g., Housing & Lodging, Recreation, Logistics, Family Support). Select the specific service provider and complete the brief satisfaction rating.
