NEW ORLEANS — Marine Forces Reserve personnel administrators gathered for the Fiscal Year 2026 Senior Personnel Administration Training Symposium at Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans, Sept. 15–17, 2026, bringing together administrative leaders from across the force to strengthen proficiency, address administrative challenges and improve support to Reserve Marines.
The annual symposium serves as a premier administrative training evolution for Marine Forces Reserve, providing active component, Active Reserve personnel officers, administrative chiefs and Headquarters Marine Corps representatives an opportunity to synchronize policies, share best techniques and engage directly with subject matter experts.
U.S. Marine Corps Col. Catherine Sumruld, assistant chief of staff, Marine Forces Reservespoke to the Marines that attended the symposium, contributing to discussions focused on strengthening administrative proficiency and ensuring personnel across the Reserve to remain informed of current policies and requirements.
The symposium also provided an opportunity to recognize administrative excellence across the force. Sumruld presented Staff Sgt. Edward Ibarra, a personnel chief with 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, for the most outstanding multiple site performance on the Marine Corps administrative analysis team inspection award during the symposium. The recognition highlighted the standards of administrative proficiency throughout the symposium and the impact it had on the role of personnel administration in supporting Marines.
Recognition of administrative performance reinforces the symposium’s broader emphasis on maintaining high standards across the personnel and administration occupational field. For administrators, supporting the Reserve component and maintaining proficiency is important because the field is highly technical and subject to frequent policy and regulatory updates.
By strengthening administrative proficiency, recognizing excellence and connecting administrators with resources across the force, the FY26 Senior Personnel Administration Training Symposium supports Marine Forces Reserve ability to maintain an administratively prepared and operationally ready Reserve force.
