ST. LOUIS — Chief Petty Officer Selectees assigned to Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Mid America participated in uniform fittings at the Navy Exchange aboard Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, as part of the FY27 Chief Petty Officer initiation season. The uniform fitting marks another step in the selectees’ preparation to assume the responsibilities and leadership expectations associated with becoming a Navy Chief. Throughout the six-week initiation season, CPO selectees undergo comprehensive training, mentorship and instruction centered on the traditions, responsibilities and expectations of the Chief Petty Officer community. The season provides selectees opportunities to learn from experienced Chief Petty Officers, develop leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of the accountability that comes with leading Sailors. Properly fitted uniforms are also an important part of the transition. As selectees prepare to join the Chief Petty Officer community, they are reminded that how they wear the uniform reflects the professionalism and standards expected of Navy chiefs. For NTAG Mid America’s CPO Selectees, the uniform fitting represents one of many milestones during their six-week journey toward becoming Chief Petty Officers. The transition to Chief Petty Officer is more than a change in uniform or title. It is a commitment to greater leadership, responsibility and service to Sailors, the Navy and the Chief Petty Officer community.
