ROYAL AIR FORCE MILDENHALL, England — Team Mildenhall members had the opportunity to tour the Tower of London in London, England, alongside Royal Air Force members as part of U.S. Air Forces in Europe’s U.K. Leadership Connect program, Sept. 10, 2026.

Each year, approximately 50 Airmen and family members are selected to experience an evening in London with an exclusive tour of the Tower of London. Team Mildenhall has been able to continue this experience through relationships built with partners in the United Kingdom.

Through the Leadership Connect program, members assigned to RAF Mildenhall connected with members of the Royal Air Force, as well as the Yeoman Warders, ceremonial guardians of the tower. One of the Yeoman Warders, also known as Beefeaters, led the tour, discussing the history of the tower, including Henry VIII’s time there and other notable periods in which the castle was used.

Compared to standard tours of the tower, the private guided tour was a unique experience giving the attendees a more personal look at the history.

“The Tower of London trip is extremely important, because it enables Airmen of all ranks to not only get together internally, but get out into the local community,” said Natalie Murphy, 100th Air Refueling Wing community relations advisor.

Murphy recommends Airmen sign up because the trip allows them to experience U.K. history while meeting peers across Team Mildenhall.

Team Mildenhall aims to host these events every year to promote Airman morale and strengthen connections within the installation as well as the British community.
