NAVAL STATION MAYPORT, Fla. – During a base-wide all-hands call, Sept. 09, 2026, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman, recognized Naval Station Mayport for their three distinct installation excellence awards in the past year and presented the base with the inaugural 2025 Shore Battle “E” pennant.
In 2026, Naval Station Mayport was awarded the 2025 Commander, Navy Installations Command Shore Battle “E”; 2026 Commander, Navy Installations Command Installation Excellence Award; and 2026 Commander in Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence.
These awards recognize installations for their outstanding performance ensuring Navy readiness around the clock. The three awards honor different aspects of installation performance. The Shore Battle “E” is an operational award that recognizes Navy installations as vital battle forces, specifically for their excellence in generating and supporting combat capabilities. The Installation Excellence Award recognizes overall outstanding performance consistent with Navy Shore enterprise strategic goals, while the Commander in Chief’s Award recognizes overall outstanding performance across all Department of War installations.
“These accolades are a direct result of our incredible Sailors, civilian workforce, and surrounding Jacksonville community. Without them, none of this would be possible. I’m so proud of our warfighters and the families that support them,” said Naval Station Mayport’s commanding officer Capt. Mike Trumbull.
Naval Station Mayport distinguished itself as the most operational base in the Southeast, servicing over 80 supported commands by flawlessly executing more than 71,000 flights and 525 ship movements. They earned top honors for exceptional performance in supporting warfighter readiness while providing a superior quality of life for service members and their families. The installation's commitment to continuous improvement was evident in its award-winning public works, unaccompanied housing, and emergency services departments - setting the standard for shore excellence throughout the Fleet.
Spanning over 3,400 acres, Naval Station Mayport is strategically positioned at the mouth of the St. Johns River and home to Arleigh Burke-class guide-missile destroyers, Freedom-variant littoral combat ships, and three Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadrons.
